RACHAEL GRINHAM is regarded by many as the most talented and entertaining player on the women’s professional circuit and despite relinquishing British Open and World Open titles in 2008, remains the biggest threat to Nicol David winning a fourth British Open title and her second in Manchester.
After being crowned World Junior Champion, Rachael joined the Women’s World Tour in 1994 where her array of strokes and strong temperament initially took her steadily towards the World’s top 10. However, it was the 2003 British Open, held in Nottingham, which was to prove the turning point for the Australian when she won the world’s most prestigious title for the first time - it was a title she was to retain in 2004 and to win for a third time in Manchester in 2007.
Rachael’s ability to raise her game for the majors was never more evident than in 2007 when she defeated higher ranked rivals in the most spectacular style imaginable to win her third British Open and maiden World Open crown.
Rachael’s brilliant shot making and fierce determination will ensure that she remains a serious title challenger.
